Shea McGee’s Spring 2024 Collection Makes Brown Feel Fresh

I like to ease myself into spring. As dark and chilly as winter can be, I also appreciate its quiet coziness and the very real expectation of spending lots of time at home. I am, unabashedly, a homebody. Which is why I loved taking a peek at the new spring collection from McGee and Co.
Designer Shea McGee is no stranger to a light and airy aesthetic, and in fact, she helped proliferate it as an ideal backdrop for every room. And while there’s nothing wrong with neutrals — they’re forever calming, especially under her eye — there’s something exciting about seeing her lean into moodier aesthetics.
This latest collection is confidently earthy, since surprising shades of brown anchor the palette, and together it almost resembles a cabin emerging from short days. Stripes, florals, and gingham fabrics bring dimension and brightness in, but they’re ever-so-slightly contrasted by the weight of wood, marble, and velvet. It’s cottagecore, but more sophisticated. And because these pieces play with seemingly separate influences, like the more traditional lounge chair alongside this modern chandelier, or this coastal-inspired side table beside a decidedly formal marble cylinder, you can incorporate them into your home knowing they’ll find a place. Everything falls within a natural color scheme, so they’re sure to blend in.
The entire collection feels balanced and calm, which is exactly how I hope to feel at the start of a new season. Here are a few of my favorites, if you’d like to take a look:

The Andrade side table could complement a range of chairs, from a more traditional leather seat to a linen or printed fabric.

Somehow, these brass-and-wood salt and pepper shakers look as effortlessly cool as a pair of sunglasses, and it seems like they would always stay that way.

This Erickson Check pillow cover has successfully hit the mark between neutral yet eye-catching, and that versatility makes it fit into any space.

This gold Fey Taper Holder would look so fun next to modern or traditional art on a mantel — whichever look appeals to you!
